About Our Office
After over a year spent searching for an existing dental practice to purchase, we realized something important: the vision that we had for our office couldn’t be retrofitted into someone else’s space. To do things the right way, we needed to start from the ground up—so that’s exactly what we did. From an empty building with a dirt floor, we oversaw every step of the construction process, making intentional decisions about layout, materials, and flow to create the modern dental practice that you see here today.
Along the way, we thought carefully about what a dental visit should actually feel like—not just from a clinical standpoint, but from a human one. From the moment you walk through the door to the time you spend in the treatment room, every detail was designed to feel calm, comfortable, and considered. We wanted a space that reflects the way we practice: thoughtful, honest, and centered around the patient experience.
The result is a space that’s comfortable and welcoming, stylish without sacrificing professionalism, and clinical without feeling cold. More than just an aesthetic choice, our office is a physical expression of our guiding philosophy: that it’s okay to do things a little differently, that the details truly matter, and that patients notice when care is taken at every level. Our Location
Once the decision was made to build our office from the ground up, choosing the right location became the next step. Opening in El Paso was always a given, but the goal was to find a neighborhood that was thoughtfully planned, well suited to a modern dental practice, and aligned with our long-term view of growth and community.
Prickly Pear Dental Care is located in the heart of Montecillo, El Paso’s first—and to date only—SmartCode community. Designed to reduce sprawl, encourage walkability, and support a more sustainable lifestyle, Montecillo brings together residential and commercial spaces in a deliberate, human-scaled way. We’re genuinely proud to be a part of it!
Our office is conveniently located just down the street from highly recognizable landmarks such as Topgolf and iFLY, making it easy to find for both local residents and visitors to the west side of El Paso.
Technology
Here at Prickly Pear Dental Care, we make use of technology thoughtfully—not for the sake of having the latest gadgets, but to make your experience more comfortable, more understandable, and more transparent. Our all-digital X-rays, including advanced panoramic imaging, allow us to capture detailed views of your teeth and jaw with minimal radiation, helping us to diagnose and to plan care with clarity and precision.
One of the tools our patients appreciate most is our DEXIS digital scanner. Instead of using messy, uncomfortable impressions, we can create a precise, real-time 3D image of your mouth in just a few minutes. Even more importantly, it allows you to see exactly what we see. We can walk through your scan together, helping you to clearly understand any areas of concern and why we may (or may not) recommend treatment—no guesswork, no pressure. As an added benefit, this digital approach also reduces the need for physical materials, making it a more environmentally conscious way to care for your smile.
Sustainability
Sustainability matters to us, but so does being honest about what it can realistically look like in a dental setting. Dentistry is, by necessity, a hygiene-driven field, and patient safety will always come first—even when that means relying on disposable or single-use materials. We would never compromise clinical standards in pursuit of sustainability, and we think transparency around that is important.
That being said, there are still many meaningful choices within our control. In our waiting area, we offer canned beverages—including canned water—to our patients so that everything can be easily and infinitely recycled. In clinical settings, we prioritize more environmentally responsible products when appropriate, such as biodegradable gloves worn by Dr. Flores and our clinical staff. Behind the scenes, we recycle all cardboard and partner with a sustainability-minded medical waste company that works to divert as much material from landfills as possible. And even the small details, like the materials used in our patient “goody bags,” are chosen with intention. For us, sustainability isn’t about being perfect; it’s about being honest, deliberate, and continually looking for ways to do better.
